Watercolour can be a heart breaking medium.
When working loose wet in wet all sorts of magic happens. The colours are vibrant, the shapes are organic, graduated, sedimentary, merging, blending, bending. It’s a joy to bear witness.
Then the inevitable happens, the paint drys. No doubt magic is retained, but often the heartbreaking result is that much of the gloss and vibrancy of colour has drained and lovely shapes have lost their edge. Sometimes I feel like an animation or stop lapse during the wet phase would be the most enjoyable.
